Assignors Notes

This was sent to all Orange County high school football contacts and tackle football officials from Paul Caldera, Tackle Assignor of the Orange County Football Officials Association.

All
– Thank you to everyone’s help in covering last week’s high number of games and adjusting for heat situations.
– Officials are not to touch fans that enter the field. If necessary, send both teams to the sidelines until the issue is corrected.
The Wilson GST is sold with and without the NFHS logo. Same ball but the difference is cost. Schools are responsible for using balls with the NFHS logo in games.
– When the helmet comes off a player during a down, he/she may not continue to play. This is an illegal participation penalty.

Schools
– It is imperative that administration is present to walk with officials to and from the locker rooms. Fans and coaches are not to approach officials at halftime or after the game.

Officials
– It’s important that the referee confirm with the home school of any changes. Notify your crew what you find out.
All levels: Other officials are to reply to the referee by email, text or call that you will be at the game. It prevents “No Shows”.
Non varsity games: Please try to arrive 30 minutes before kickoff. Let me know if officials are showing up at game time or later.
– Check out OCFOA.org regarding overtime procedures if you have any questions. Both teams must agree before the game is they want overtime. There is no overtime in non-varsity games.
– Remember to update your availability on Arbiter to avoid turn back fees. No excuses.

Have a great week!
