This was sent to all Orange County high school football contacts and tackle football officials from Paul Caldera, Tackle Assignor of the Orange County Football Officials Association.
All
1) Thank you to everyone’s patience in getting through last minute game changes due to lightning, heat index and weird stuff. Moving games to different days were at a minimum.
2) This week is very important. Playoff implications are felt on every play. Stay calm, focus and communicate. We (officials, coaches and players) need to avoid mistakes, unnecessary penalties and unnecessary ejections.
3) Remember that moving forward, this will be many players last football game ever! Let’s leave great memories.
4) Playoffs: Rankings will be determined on Saturday, November 1st. Games will be distributed to units on Sunday, November 2nd. For additional information for 11-man football can be found HERE on the CIF-SS website. Additional information for 8-man football can be found HERE on the CIF-SS website.
Schools
1) Playoff games will be officiated by neutral units. If you have a home game and the officials do not contact you, let me know and I will get that information to you.
2) If you have a senior that would not continue as a player after they graduate, have them consider officiating! Have them contact me. I will point them to the right person if they would also consider working other sports!
Officials
1) There will be a Playoff Zoom meeting on Wednesday, November 4th from 6:30pm to 7pm. If you are selected to work a playoff game, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you attend this meeting. Troy Leonard will give permission for each official to enter the meeting. This is how he will take attendance and note what time you signed in.
2) Remember that you need to reach out to crew chiefs NOW if you want to be considered to be on a crew or change crews. Spots fill fast!!!
